WYTHALL JUNIORS  4,  Bournville FC  1  @ Kings Norton Rugby Club   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Well the last game was upon us, & mixed feelings going into this game from myself.     * A'mari ROBINSON *
Having only 'half' a team to pick from for pretty much the whole of April, today we were,   * ******************************** *
for some reason blessed with a full team minus captain Charlie Donlan - options at last!
Wythall travelled over to Kings Norton Rugby Club for this fixture due to the club mower
dying a death, & the grass being a good 8 inches long!  Good weather although very blustery
at times, & the lads actually had a good body language today too! Oh Joy!!  Well Wythall     Division 3
kicked off with the wind behind them, & immediately imposed themselves on this match up.     Sun 1st May 2011
They won the ball continuously in the middle of the park, & at times, played some of the
best football I've seen for a long, long time (well, seems like a long time anyway).  It      Current League Form
didn't take long for Wythall to get on the scoresheet either.  Man of the Match A'mari      WLLLLW
Robinson, gained possesion of the ball just outside the penalty area to the keepers right,
shifted the ball to his right, & unleashed a powerful effort from 22 yards, that was just too   No. Starting Team   Goals
hot to handle for the Bournville keeper, & the ball sneaked through & in for 1-0 on 7 mins.   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
2-0 came 5 minutes later, when a humungous throw from Jordan Linton-Maisey bounced in   14 Lewis DOYLE
the Bournville area & the very impressive George Sturdy was on hand to score his 1st ever   3 Scott SAUNDERS
headed goal, & a great powerful one it was, from 4 yards out.  Unfortunately this also saw   6 Jack FOX
the last kick of the game for Linton-Maisey though when he pulled his knee on his landing of   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
the throw.  Wythall continued to play some impressive football, & extended the lead once   8 Jamie HASKER
more on 21 minutes.  After a great 5 pass, 1 touch move on the right hand side between    5 A'mari ROBINSON   2
several Wythall players, the ball ran for a corner.  Sturdy's dangerous corner saw Robinson   7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
evade everyone & low volley at the back post saw him extend the the lead to 3-0.     17 Tom DAVIES
HALF TIME: WYTHALL  3,  BOURNVILLE  0   9 George STURDY   1
The 2nd half saw Wythall playing into the strong wind, & although they were told to keep   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
the ball down on the deck, they tried too many looping balls, & over the top through balls,
to allow Bournville to gain more confidence & come back into the game more.  The game    No. Substitutes   Goals
descended into a pretty scrappy affair for the remainder, & it took Wythall until the last 10    16 Matthew COLLIER   1
minutes to start to get their game going again.  In the mean time, Bournville were getting    2 Austin WALKER - MANI
a 'Lions' share of the possession in midfield & were eventually rewarded.  The Wythall    12 Max SMITH
defence who were very solid throughout the game, had a small lapse in concentration, which   18 Owen WALSH
allowed a snatched effort from 16 yards to somehow squeeze past everyone including
Kyle Batchelor in goal & over the line at the far post for 3-1.  Wythall though after a couple   Results
of changes started pressing more & got their reward with 7 minutes remaining albeit
controversially.  Another dangerous Sturdy corner was partially cleared to substitute    Bournville W  2,  Bromford  5
Matthew Collier, who headed high powerfully back at the Bournville goal.  It appeared to   Glades  3,  Fairfield  5
me, & one of the Bournville staff also that the ball definitly crossed the line, as it appeared
that the keepers hands had actually touch the back of the net also in 'saving' the effort.  The
referee quite rightly awarded the goal, but was then followed by uproar from the away
teams linesman.  He was adament it wasn't a goal, & I'm sure he obviously had the best
position, but pretty much everyone I've spoken to, agreed it was a goal, but it doesn't really
effect the match anyway, as I felt we ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Great way to end the season - nice to add a 'W' to the form guide at last, it's been a VERY
depressing April, a poor end to the season, having only won 2 competitive games since mid-
February!  It was actually nice to think before this game we had 15 players to pick from
instead of 11.  The defence was immense today & midfield worked extremely hard.  George
Sturdy worked tiredlessly today to get things going, & the subs came on & did a 'job' also.

If you'd told me at the beginning of the season we'd finish 5th in our 1st season in this
division I would have been happy….if you'd said the same at christmas I'd have been
disappointed, but now I'm happy to have just got in the top half.  With a full squad for every
game, I feel we would have finished a couple of places higher, a number of VERY
dissapointing moments, losing a game 10-0 a very low point, not because of the loss, but the
way we lost it, simply through lack of communication, when I could have put a '21-dayer'
in.  Some fantastic moments too though, beating 2 divisional champions, 1 being top ranked
in the League Shield, on the way to the Semi-final, & losing out to probably another division
champion side is no disgrace.  Every division 2 side we've faced this year (including in
friendlies) we have beaten, so you are slowly proving to everyone how good you can be.
With a bit of tweaking for next season, I don't think many teams will want to be playing us
next season.  Well done lads, we got through this season, & will be stronger for it come
next September.

Glades FC  3,  WYTHALL JUNIORS  2  @ The Glades   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
A trip over to The Glades up today, with yet again another different line-up due to players   * Kyle MULLALLY *
out etc, but fortunately 11 players available - or maybe not so fortunate.  Glades lined up   * ******************************** *
with only 10 men, but played as though they had the 11 & we the 10.  The frame of mind of
all the Wythall players from even before kickoff was completely wrong this week, with too
many not willing to listen, & prefered to mess about.  This was carried onto the pitch too,
as it only took 1 minute for Glades to score.  So 1-0 down with 59 minutes left to play -      Division 3
plenty of time to come back.  2-0 came 5 minutes later, through a controversial corner.     Sun 24th Apr 2011
A great delivery to the near post & an equally impressive header from Glades Captain
Thomas Donlan, saw the ball hit the back of the net once more.  Wythall eventually started     Current League Form
to put an impresson on the game going close twice in succession in 5 minutes, but for the      DWLLLL
brilliant clearances from the Glades defence keeping Glades in front.  A couple of chances
later, Kyle Mullally produced a great solo run then a looping effort from 18 yards over the    No. Starting Team   Goals
Glades keeper brought Wythall back into the game.  Wythall upto this point had played    1 Kyle BATCHELOR
pretty much no football, & looked a shade of the fighting team we had started to get used    2 Austin WALKER - MANI
of.  The only other memorable moment of the half saw Kyle Batchelor make a fantastic save   3 Scott SAUNDERS
with his right foot to deny a point blank effort  from 4 yards out to keep Wythall in the game   14 Lewis DOYLE
HALF TIME: GLADES  2,  WYTHALL  1   16 Matthew COLLIER
At half time, we discussed where we had gone wrong, & what we needed to do to put things    8 Jamie HASKER
right, - the obvious, play football, retain possession, go back to working hard for each other,   12 Max SMITH
& pass & move.  But as a carbon copy of the 1st half, Glades went straight on the attack, &   7 Kyle MULLALLY   1
scored their 3rd goal of the game.  Wythall were looking tired, & not doing anything that we   18 Owen WALSH
had planned at half time.  Too many players were swinging wildly at the ball & looking as    9 George STURDY   1
though they were trying to hit a golf ball, than a football.  With the exception of one player   10 Charlie DONLAN ©
who worked tiredlessly as usual to try & get the lads going (Kyle Mullally), not one Wythall
player looked as though they even wanted to be playing today.  I can't say everyone was bad   No. Substitutes   Goals
because a couple, although not looking their usual best, still made an impression on the
game, but too many players decided not to listen to instructions being shouted, & opted to
just 'do their own thing'.  The only highlight of the half for Wythall came when they produced
a great 6 pass move that absolutely shredded the Glades defence, George Sturdy produced
a sublime cross, but everyone missed & the ball went out for a goalkick.  Sturdy though
then got on the score sheet, when he met Mullally's cross superbly to bring the ball back to   Results
3-2.  Wythall should have gotten an equaliser on 42 minutes, when a goal mouth scramble,
saw the ball appear to cross the line from a Jamie Hasker back heel, then again a second    Bromford  9,  Bournville FC  1
later, but to be honest Wythall just didn't even deserve an equaliser today.  Glades all
worked extremely hard for each other & caused Wythall a number of problems going
forward, to rightly deserve the victory in the end.

Today, to be quite honest, is one of THE worst moments in 5 years of managing.  This ranks
up there with the 10-0 loss to Fairfield at the beginning of the season.  Nothing to do with
the opposition who played very well, just highly annoying & frustrating when we know you
can play 95% better.  I know you were missing 5 key players, but it's just no excuse, we
have a big enough squad to cope.  This also ranks as the worst finish to a season for Wythall
I have been involved with & the poorest team performance I have ever witnessed from the
lads too.  Hopefully for the last game next week, we will have no excuse, as pretty much
everyone is SUPPOSED to be available.  I really hope so, just end the season on a high at
least.

WYTHALL JUNIORS  1,  Coleshill United  4  @ B&SRFC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Well after a manic day of trying to get a team together, we somehow managed to get 12   * Scott SAUNDERS *
for this fixture!  The weather was perfect, the lads looked just about fit, but the grass   * ******************************** *
looked like we were almost in a jungle….well it's the same for both teams, & Coleshill
weren't complaining, so the game got underway.  Both teams had pretty much a lions
share of the 1st half possession, with the game end to end.  Wythall kept Coleshill pretty
quiet on the attack front for much of the 1st half, & were 1st to get on the score sheet.     Division 3
Some great footwork on the edge of the Coleshill penalty area from Charlie Donlan, saw     Weds 20th Apr 2011
him evade 3 Coleshill players, before being clumsily brought down for a penalty by a 4th.
Max Smith decided it was going to be his penalty instead of the usual Donlan, & to his credit     Current League Form
he smashed a great effort into the roof of the net for 1-0.  This spured Wythall to play     LDWLLL
some descent football at times, with Coleshill being pushed back.  Just as though it looked
as though Wythall would have a half time lead, a great 1-2 on the half way line by Coleshill,   No. Starting Team   Goals
saw an equally great through ball that saw the Coleshill forward lob Kyle Batchelor in   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
goal for Wythall from 22 yards for a fantastic finish & bring the game all square.   14 Lewis DOYLE
HALF TIME:  WYTHALL  1,  COLESHILL 1   3 Scott SAUNDERS
After a half time talk of basically getting the lads to do exactly what they did in the 1st    6 Jack FOX
half, they went about the task set. The game restarted though & the half time plan seemed   8 Jamie HASKER
to have fallen on deaf ears.  Wythall couldn't string more than 3 passes together at any one   17 Tom DAVIES
time & coleshill started to show why they are top of the league.  They won basically every   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
header in midfield, played some excellent football at times, & muscled the Wythall players   7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
off the ball with ease.  Wythall were basically camped back in their own half for the    12 Max SMITH   1
remainder of the game, with only the odd counter-attck to look forward to!  Coleshill    9 George STURDY
didn't take long to go ahead, 34 minutes into the game & they made it 2-1.  5 minutes later   10 Charlie DONLAN
they extended to 3-1, with what I can only describe as laughable defending, because
anything else & I would have been crying!  Coleshill then wrapped the game up at 4-1 with    No. Substitutes   Goals
5 minutes on the clock remaining, for a very easy 2nd half win for them.     16 Matthew COLLIER
Well done to Scott Saunders who got the vote for Man of the Match on his 50th appearance!
Just shading the impressive Max Smith who worked his socks off also tonight.

It's not your guys fault the way the season is ending for you.  After having what I would have
said up to 6 games ago, a very successful season, bearing in mind Wythall shouldn't have    Results
even been playing in the 3rd division this year, having got a trump card in being granted the
status of Division 3, AND getting to the semi-final of the League Shield.  If you had of told    Midweek fixture (21/04/11)
me we would be looking at being in 5th position with two games remaining before the
season started, I would have been reasonably happy.  But with the players (or should I say -   Bromford  9,  Wychall  1
lack of at the moment!) with have, we should be able to challenge at least 3rd place.  Maybe
the way you have played at times this season has put my expectations a little too high for
this season, but you all deserve much more than what you are left with - Nothing.  Again
tonight missing players, & having 1 hobble around for the entire 2nd half, 1 player injured,
& 1 wanting to come off tired, I can't really ask for much more from you guys.  Lets just
end the season on a high & TRY & play for each other again, not do TOO much individually,
& get back to playing as a team.  There is no point playing if you're not enjoying it, so
plllleeeeeaaaaase just enjoy it 1st of all, the the good football will return.

Good luck to both Coleshill & Bromford for the league title, when they meet next Weds for
probably the league title desciding game - what a game that'll be…..

WYTHALL JUNIORS  0,  Bromford Lions  3  @ B&SRFC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
4th Match up this season between these two sides (!!), & would Wythall finally get a win    * WHOLE TEAM *
against the formidable Bromford?? Well it couldn't have got off to a worst start really.     * ******************************** *
Wythall missing 5 players this week, & with 3 of them being centre midfielders, it was
always going to be an up hill task.  So Wythall lined up with 9 players + 2 partially injured,
but to their credit they still tried to get the ball down & play, as they have done all season.
Bromford got off to a great start though after only 5 minutes on the clock, when a      Division 3
defensive mix up saw the ball fail to be delt with & Bromford Forward Tapiwa Katsande,     Sun 17th Apr 2011
made the most of the mix up calmly round Kyle Batchelor in goal & swept the ball in
from 8 yards for 1-0.  Wythall though knuckled down & continued to fight for every ball, &     Current League Form
lost cause keeping Bromford out time after time, & generally limiting them to only 4 more     LLDWLL
clear 1st half chances, & going close themselves a couple of times.  The move of probably
the match from a Wythall point a view ended a 5 pass defence splitting move with the   No. Starting Team   Goals
impressive Kyle Mullally going clean through on goal.  His clever shot was 'somehow' met   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
with what I can only describe as the best save I have seen all season from Bromford's   14 Lewis DOYLE
Kaleem Hulbert in goal for Bromford, to deny Mullally & keep the score at 1-0.   3 Scott SAUNDERS
HALF TIME:  WYTHALL  0,  BROMFORD  1   6 Jack FOX
The 2nd half saw Wythall go down to 10 men, when Owen Walsh had to leave the field due   8 Jamie HASKER
to his knee flaring up once again.  So Wythall went for a 3-4-1-1 formation to try &    17 Tom DAVIES
counter-affect the 1 man deficit.  Wythall battled relentlessly to get back in this game, but   18 Owen WALSH
with only having the bear 11 to start with & now a man short, you could see the lads    7 Kyle MULLALLY
starting to tire.  Bromford upped their levels once more & pressed Wythall into their own   12 Max SMITH
half for the majority of the remaining half.  Wythall though kept producing last ditch tackles   9 George STURDY
& then calm play out from the back, but were just met themselves with just as impressive   10 Charlie DONLAN ©
defence in Bromford.  Bromford gained their 2nd goal after 48 minutes, when a low
diving save to Batchelor's right somehow saw the ball go under his body, back across goal   No. Substitutes   Goals
to the awaiting Katsande, who tapped the ball over the line from 2 yards for probably the
easiest goal he'll ever score & put Bromford 2-0 up.  Just to add insult to injury, with 2
minutes remaining on the clock, Wythall conceeded again when a blistering Callum Coyle
run into the heart of the Wythall area, saw his shot saved, deflected, then eventually put
over the line by the a Wythall player for an unfortunate end to an unfortunate day.
    Results
Always disappointing to lose, but you guys can all hold your heads up high today, with a
large portion of the side out, then going a man down, it couldn't get much worse, but you   Bournville  FC  1,  Aston Fields  5
stuck to your tasks, & were highly unfortunate for all of the goals - but that's been the story   Glades  1,  Lightwood  3
of the season!!  - You look on paper to have under achieved this season, but you have all
come a long way from the 1st game of the season up to now.  You have all shown over the    MIDWEEK RESULT
last two months (& probably more) your true fighting spirit, & continue right to the final
whistle every week, no matter what the situation, which is highly admirable, & a complete   Bromford  4,  Bournville W  0
contrast to last season. - You're all growing as players & will do well next season with a
little more work, & a few additions.

We gave everyone involved today a joint Man of the Match, as you were all outstanding.
Another tough match up Wednesday against top of the table side Coleshill United.

C.C.C.'s  1,  WYTHALL JUNIORS  6  @ Blue Bell Recreation Ground   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Brilliant weather for this 1st ever match up between the two sides, although once again   * A'mari ROBINSON *
the pitch was very narrow, it was in pretty good condition.  Wythall started the game with   * ******************************** *
pretty much a completely different lineup & an older formation choice, which should have
been saved for another day perhaps.  The formation was the undoing of Wythall for the
1st half, which saw two sides looking very poor not getting the ball down very much, &
looking a little lost at times.  For the entire 1st half, there were probably 2 shots on goal!     Friendly
The highlights of the 1st half came from the 2 shots that C.C.C.'s had, & Wythall Keeper      Sun 10th Apr 2011
Kyle Batchelor made 2 (& I don't over use this saying), World - Class - Saves, that kept the
home side out, & Wythall still in the game.     Current League Form
HALF TIME:  C.C.C.'s  0,  WYTHALL  0     WLLDWL
Well having got that boring 1st half write up out of the way - on with the 2nd half!
At half time, the managers explained a few things about the formation, & then promptly   No. Starting Team   Goals
changed it to suit the pitch! With a few changes made, Wythall started the 2nd in much    1 Kyle BATCHELOR
better spirits.  Unfortunately it was C.C.C.'s that made the better start, when a poor kick   14 Lewis DOYLE
away, was controlled & chipped in from 22 yards out for 1-0 to C.C.C.'s.   3 Scott SAUNDERS
Wythall then came to life.  The passing from them at times was some of the best I've   17 Tom DAVIES
witnessed this season from the lads, not just because of it, but the way they always tried   16 Matthew COLLIER
the option of passing over everything else.  The defensive line up second half was immense,   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
they were completely solid, & didn't just hoof the ball away, but each one, looked up for    18 Owen WALSH
the pass primarily, which is very pleasing from a management point of view.  The midfield   7 Kyle MULLALLY © 1
worked extremely hard throughout, & supported the front runners brilliantly.  A'mari   5 A'mari ROBINSON   2
Robinson, back this week, having been 'cup tied' last week, was a massive plus for us today,   12 Max SMITH   1
as he constantly got the ball out of the air & down on the deck, to cause C.C.C.'s all kind   10 Charlie DONLAN   1
of problems.  His pace, power & trickery lighted up the game & he got Wythall off the mark
too.  His incredible run, then brilliant three pass interchange saw his 'stab' the ball into the    No. Substitutes   Goals
near L/H post for 1-0.  2-0 came when a defensive error fro C.C.C.'s saw the ball roll across   8 Lucas NEWMAN - YIEND   1
their 18 yard line, & Max Smith duely accepted the chance, where he calmly steered the ball    11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
in from 17 yards for 2-1.  3-1 came 5 minutes later with Wythall totally dominating this   6 Jack FOX
game at this point.  Some more fantastic passing & moving work saw Captain Kyle Mullally
hit a sublim effort with the outside of his right boot over everybody from 20 yards into the
roof of the net for a fantastic goal.  4-1 came on 50 minutes, when Robinson received the    Results
ball just inside the C.C.C.'s half, went around a number of their players with his fantastic
feet before sliding the ball past the hapless C.C.C.'s keeper for another brilliant goal.     Aston Fields  3,  Glades  2
Charlie Donlan then decided to finally get his name on the score sheet, when he & Mullally   Bournville  FC  !,  Fairfield  3
combined brilliantly, setting Donlan through wide, & he then unleashed a tremendous effort   Coleshill 10,  Wychall  1
from an extremely tight angle, across goal into the far L/H side inner side netting for 5-1.   Lightwoods  0,  Bromford  0
The most pleasing goal though was left until last.  After some absolutely defence shredding
play from Wythall, passing them off the park, Smith received the ball & crossed a great    MIDWEEK RESULT
curling ball into the path of Lucas Newman-Yiend playing his 1st game up front for Wythall,
who controlled brilliantly & he slid the ball past the oncoming C.C.C.'s keeper from 16 yards   Glades  1,  Coleshill  2
for the 6-1 win.
To be honest, I really thought when C.C.C.'s scored early on in the 2nd half, it was going to
be 'one of those days' again as we have seen a few times this season.  But credit to you all,
you knuckled down & totally outplayed a team in a division higher, & to the tune of 6, very
well worked goals too - not many teams will have put 6 past them this season.  Great work
lads before another tough match up with Bromford Lions next week.

Bromford Lions  5,  WYTHALL JUNIORS  3  @ Highgate United FC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Well, biggest game in our teams history today, against the formidable Bromford Lions from   * Lewis DOYLE *
the same division.  Last time out, I witnessed one of the best games I have ever seen at    * ******************************** *
this level of football, & hoping for the same, this time around!  Well it couldn't have gotten
off to a worse start!  Bromford looking nervous last time out, showed no signs this time
& looked extremely focused from start to finish.  Bromford came flying out of the blocks,
& put 3 goals past Wythall in the 1st 20 minutes, to absolutely shell shock Wythall.  The 1st     League Shield - Semi F
two goals from our perspective were VERY poor to conceed, when easy clearances turned     Sun 3rd Apr 2011
into a complete fumble, & allowed Bromford to punish us easily.  The 3rd goal was a very
good quality finish when a corner was met by Bromford's towering centre half who bullet     Current League Form
headed home for 3-0.  Wythall though continued to put the effort in, & although they were     WLLDWL
unable to string more than 3 passes together at any one time (mainly because Bromford
were THAT good) they kept on going.  Wythall got their reward with 3 minutes of the 1st    No. Starting Team   Goals
half remaining.  A Donlan freekick, was saved well by the Bromford keeper, but he spilled   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
the ball & George Sturdy was at hand to steer the ball across the line for 3-1.  Wythall    14 Lewis DOYLE
though continued to struggle on, with the usually brilliant Captain Donlan's freekicks, going   3 Scott SAUNDERS
over time after time, & Scott Saunder's fantastic stike from 25 yards going just over, when   6 Jack FOX
maybe could have hit the back of the net with full size goals!   17 Tom DAVIES
HALF TIME:  BROMFORD  3,  WYTHALL  1   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
The 2nd half was better from Wythall's point of view - & perhaps to the neutral spectator   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
too!  Already having 4 goals scored in the 1st half a further 4 were to follow.  Wythall    7 Kyle MULLALLY
again were caught early on, with another dreadful blunder allowing Bromford to take full   8 Jamie HASKER
advantage & extend their lead further to deliver another blow to Wythall.  To their credit   9 George STURDY   1
though, Wythall then started to play a little smarter & for once started to get the ball    10 Charlie DONLAN © 1
down & move it around.  They were rewarded twice, when substitute Max Smith scored well
from close range, the Captain Donlan added another to bring the score back 4-3!  Wythall   No. Substitutes   Goals
then found a second wind & realised that they had an outside chance of getting something   12 Max SMITH   1
out of this game for the 1st time.  Just as they had settled down to working for each other   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
though, yet another blunder, gave Bromford the upper hand yet again when the Bromford    16 Matthew COLLIER
player sublimely chipped home from 20 yards for 5-3 & a well deserved victory.

Desperatly guttening to lose today having come so far in beating TWO division champions   Results
along the way & yet another team from the division above.  - You should all though take
pride in the above statements, as you have played some wonderful football over this    Aston Fields  1,  Bournville W  5
season, & when it come down to it, Bromford were just the better team today. The best   Fairfield  5,  Glades  0
team by a mile you have played all year, they got the job done, & performed like champions
from start to finish, so if you take nothing else form this game, remember how they played
today & that's definitely the way forward for us too.
Wasn't too happy with the size of the pitch & the goals, although a fantastic venue &
brilliant hosts today, the sizes did play a factor, not just on the pitch, but I think
psychologically before hand too with the players.
I would like to say, it was brilliant that we had three very good officials in charge today,
who were superb & made life a lot simpler on the day too.
Man of the Match this week goes to Lewis Doyle, who was absolutely superb in everything
he did, & was solid throughout.  Close 2nd was again Tom Davies who showed true
determination throughout, & tried to get Wythall playing simple.  Every player were an
honour to manage today though lads, so thank you, you did us proud.

Lightwood Lions  3,  WYTHALL JUNIORS  1  @ Oldbury Leisure Centre   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Wythall faced top of the table side Lightwood Lions today, & after losing out last time    * Tom DAVIES *
around 2-0, Wythall needed to try & stamp some authority on this tie, to get something    * ******************************** *
out of the game.  Wythall started brightly, but from the start to finish of this game, it
was always the final ball letting them down.  The midfield looked extremely jaded from
the off, & couldn't get the ball down.  Instead they opted for too long or too short balls.
It took until the 20-25th minute with the introduction of the sides two regular captain's     Division 3
Charlie Donlan & Kyle Mullally to spur Wythall into life.  By this time though Wythall were     Sun 27th Mar 2011
already 1-0 down, when some pretty horrific defending on our part allowed Lightwood
to once again exploit & punish Wythall with a great finish to start the scoreline off.       Current League Form
Wythall did then start playing the ball around very nicely at times, but again it was the      WLLDWL
final ball that was stopping any end product.
HALF TIME:  LIGHTWOODS 1,  WYTHALL  0   No. Starting Team   Goals
The 2nd half saw Wythall pretty much keep the ball in Lightwoods half for 80% of the time.   1 Kyle BATCHELOR ©
Lightwoods though looked incredibly dangerous on the counter-attack, but were being met   8 Jamie HASKER
by a very resolute defence. After having the 'Lions' share of the possession for much of   3 Scott SAUNDERS
the time, it was Lightwood though who once again punished Wythall for, - yet again very   6 Jack FOX
poor defending.  A simple back pass, combined with a last ditch tackle from the Lightwoods   17 Tom DAVIES
forward saw the ball rolling back towards Kyle Batchelor in goal.  What should have been     4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
a routine clearance somehow ended with the Lightwoods forward bearing down on goal    11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
from 18 yards with not one Wythall player in sight, where he simply couldn't miss for 2-0,   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
which was really hard to take against the run of play too.  Wythall suddenly looked dead &    5 A'mari ROBINSON
buried after working relentlessly for the last 20 minutes, but somehow only 2 minutes    9 George STURDY   1
later a hopeful shot more than anything from 25 yards from in form George Sturdy, saw the   12 Max SMITH
ball sail into the top R/H corner for 2-1.  This suddenly sprung Wythall back into life with
10 minutes still remaining on the clock, & they pushed forward even more in search of the   No. Substitutes   Goals
equaliser. Wythall then were awarded a corner with 8 minutes remaining.  A Sturdy cross   10 Charlie DONLAN
was failed to be converted through a mass of players, & with the ball coming back towards   7 Kyle MULLALLY
the back post once more, Mullally steered the ball towards goal, but saw his effort come   14 Lewis DOYLE
back off the post.  Wythall then continued pressing, with the excellent Tom Davies, playing
in his favoured position once more, after in goal last week, terrorising the Lightwoods
defence running from deep, & weaving his way into the box, before his cross was missing &   Results
saw his effort go out for yet another goal kick.  Just as though it was looking as though
Wythall may get a last ditch equaliser, Lightwoods broke the Wythall hearts again, when   Aston Fields  1,  Bournville  FC  5
another counter-attack, saw the Lightwoods forward evade a few tackles before steading   Coleshill  1,  Fairfield  2
himself & chipping the helpless Batchelor in goal for 3-1 & the win.   Glades  1,  Bromford  7
    Wychall  4,  Bournville W  5
Very hard to take this defeat today lads, there is always something that gets in the way of
you playing the way you should for some reason.  One week you are unbelieveable, the next
back to satisfactory again.  If you want to go on & win things in the future, you need to
transfer the satisfactory to at least good.  Hot one week, cold the next just isn't good
enough now, you're all old enough now to be able to sustain a high tempo everyweek at
least.  You always work hard for each other, there is no doubt about that, but sometimes
(& you know this) you need to play smart.  Don't get tagged as the 'nearly men' lads, we
need to step up to the next level now.  Hopefully with your up & down (hot & cold) form,
next week should land back on Hot again with any luck!  Well done today to Tom Davies who
has fast become a brilliant signing for us this season - Man of the Match - bar none.

WYTHALL JUNIORS  6,  Wychall Wanderers  1  @B&SRFC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Well, another Sunday morning & everything to look forward to after last weeks tremendous    * George STURDY *
performance.  The sky was blue, the pitch was firm, oh joy another game of football.  Well,   * ******************************** *
as per usual in the history of Wythall Juniors, something always comes up to spoil my
plans!!  With only 1 player out with injury last week, we still had 15 lads to pick from, but
this week, we had the bare 11!! - with two of them players being the keeper & a player
who has scored 40 goals this season, the managers were left with a big head ache…..     Division 3
After the brilliant Tom Davies kindly volunteered to go in goal, one problem solved.  The      Sun 20th Mar 2011
next was putting in a team to win this game.  Well I didn't need to worry, as the lads all
responded brilliantly & stepped up to the task.  The game peetered in & out at times, but     Current League Form
all in all, Wythall contained Wychall to 2 shots & penned them in their half for pretty much     WWLLDW
the rest of the time.  The goals started early, when former Wychall player George Sturdy
continued his great form against his old club, by punishing them on 3 minutes, with a tidy   No. Starting Team   Goals
finish for 1-0.  2-0 came on 8 minutes, when Jordan Linton-Maisey used his silky skills to    1 Tom DAVIES
go around 5 Wychall players starting at the far edge of the 18 yard box, before lifting a    14 Lewis DOYLE
great effort over the Wychall keeper into the far R/H corner to double the lead.  Another   3 Scott SAUNDERS
former Wychall player Max Smith then continued his good scoring run against his former    6 Jack FOX
club also, by clipping the ball past the advancing Wychall keeper for 3-0.  Wythall were   8 Jamie HASKER
then awarded a penalty when Captain Kyle Mullally was pulled down inside the Wychall    4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY   2
area, & the advantage was quickly squandered, so was brought back for the spot kick.     7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
With usual penalty taker Charlie Donlan missing today, Linton-Maisey stepped up to blast   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
his spot kick in for his 2nd of the game.   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
HALF TIME:  WYTHALL 4,  WYCHALL  0   9 George STURDY   2
The 2nd half saw Wythall change formation & introduce the influential new recruit A'mari   12 Max SMITH   1
Robinson, who's fantastic footwork instantly started causing Wychall more problems.  He
only took 5 minutes to score his 1st Wythall goal too.  Some great work at the halfway    No. Substitutes   Goals
line, saw Sturdy link up with Robinson, before they both went hurdling through towards    5 A'mari ROBINSON   1
goal.  After Robinson took full control, he baited the Wychall keeper out, before slotting
a fantastic effort under him from 17 yards for 5-0.  Wychall replied on 42 minutes, when
some poor defending after a great morning for the defence in general allowed the Wychall
player to scramble the ball over the line from 4 yards.  The games best goal though was
saved for last.  Sturdy having a fantastic game, working his socks off throughout, saw a   Results
great Callum cross come his way.  With him side onto goal 14 yards out, he controlled the
ball well, & as the ball came back down & side volleyed into the R/H corner for 6-1.   Bournville W  0,  Coleshill  10
    Glades  4,  Aston Fields  1
After turning up minus a lot of players, the lads really put the effort in today, to make sure   Lightwood  5,  Bournville FC  2
Wychall never got settled, & controlled the match from start to finish.  As 3 separate
units, you were all superb today.  Not the greatest of specticals to watch, but a very work
man like performance from every player.
Man of the Match today who just shaded a number of players was George Sturdy, who was
asked before the game to give a little extra today for us, & he did - & some, with two good
goals to add also.
Again I could go through a number of players like last week, but would take up the rest of
your week.

Well done lads a tough game up next week versus top of the table side Lightwood Lions, I
hope we have a full side to pick from!!

Bromford Lions  2,  WYTHALL JUNIORS  2  @ Arden Hall   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Wythall faced probably joint title favourites Bromford today, in what would prove to be   * Jamie HASKER *
a very tough game.  Bromford defeated Wythall 6-1 last time out in the Open Cup, so    * ******************************** *
Wythall would have to be on the ball from the off today.  The game started brightly for
Wythall.  Bromford kicked off, & looked a little nervous in the initial minutes, with
Wythall taking the ball straight off Bromford & then getting a shot off inside the first
seconds.  Then after a few end to end chances, it was Bromford who took the game to     Division 3
Wythall & started producing some really good football.  To be fair to the Wythall lads      Sun 13th Mar 2011
though, they stuck to the instructions given before the game & kept Bromford out time
after time.  Bar a few Wythall chances here & there, were basically camped in their own     Current LeagueForm
half for large spells.  The defence as a whole throught out this game were absolutely      WWWLLD
superb today, & battled time after time to keep the score at 0-0.  Kyle Batchelor in goal
was also very commanding & made two impressive stops & made a few great clearances   No. Starting Team   Goals
to keep Bromford at bay.   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
HALF TIME:  BROMFORD  0,  WYTHALL  0   16 Matt COLLIER
After a very impressive 1st half from both teams, the game surely couldn't get any better?   3 Scott SAUNDERS
Wythall opted to change formation & try & put pressure on Bromford, making some more    6 Jack FOX
chances of their own in the process.  Man of the Match Jamie Hasker was given a very   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
important job to do today, which the management believed he would be capable of doing,   17 Tom DAVIES
stopping a very influential player from making an impression on the game.  Last time out   7 Kyle MULLALLY
he dominated everything in the air, & came forward like an express train which totally   5 A'mari ROBINSON
devastated Wythall, & I believe would do everyweek, regardless of the opposition.     11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
Hasker though stuck to his task for 50 minutes, & although over a foot shorter, stopped   10 Charlie DONLAN ©
the Bromford lad from playing his usual game - no easy task.  Wythall started to make a   8 Jamie HASKER
new impression on the game with the introduction of Jordan Linton-Maisey, who started
to get hold of the very talented Bromford Centre-midfielder, & stop him playing also.  The   No. Substitutes   Goals
formation change was just looking to give Wythall a new lease of life attacking wise, when   14 Lewis DOYLE
they were delt a huge blow.  A Bromford corner was defended well, but then a Bromford    12 Max SMITH
player cleverly lost his man, & finished smartly from 7 yards past the helpless Batchelor for    9 George STURDY
1-0.  Wythall though of the past would have laid down & be beaten 4 or 5-0 then - but not   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
today!  They had a steely look in their eyes, & continued to be patient & work hard for
each other.  Wythall were then awarded a freekick 25 yards out on 42 minutes.  Charlie   Results
Donlan stepped up over the ball.  He smashed the ball at goal, & the Bromford keeper
just seemed to take his eye off the ball for a second, with all the commotion going on    Bournville FC  2,  Glades  2
infront of him, to then look back & see the ball sail past him for 1-1.   Bromford then   Bournville W  1,  Lightwood  11
replied 5 minutes later to sink Wythall once more for 2-1 on 49 minutes, with another   Fairfield  3,  Aston Fields  1
great finish.  Wythall though still continued to work, knowing they still had time to pull   Wychall  2,  Coleshill  6
something from this game.  Another Wythall attack, saw George Sturdy draw the Bromford
defence in, before sending a defence splitting pass to put Donlan clean through.  He then
steadied himself & lifted the ball over the diving Bromford keeper for 2-2.  Both side could
have gone on to win this game late on, with Donlan just missing out on his hatrick, & then
Bromford just not quite converting some dangerous low crosses.

Overall, this was one of the best games of football I have ever witnessed at this level.  The
game had everything, from an amazing goal line clearance from Jack Fox with his head,
right at the beginning of the 2nd half, to last ditch tackles, brilliant attacking play from
both sides, 4 really well taken goals, & both sides playing the game as it SHOULD be
played.  Both side could have won this game in the end, but I firmly believe a draw was a
fair result overall.  Not the best technical game I have watched Wythall play, but definitely
the best battling performance I have ever witnessed from you guys. - An absolute pleasure
to be involved in, & we wish Bromford all the best for the rest of the season.

I could have a run down of all your performances today, but I would be here until next
week!  All I will say is FANTASTIC from EVERY player today, you all worked hard for each
other & will be ok come the end of the season - if you keep it up!

WYTHALL JUNIORS  0,  Lightwood Lions  2 @ B&SRFC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Top of the table side Lightwood Lions were the visitors this week to B&SRFC, & a    * A'mari ROBINSON *
mouth-watering tie in prospect.  Both teams looking down on form of late had the    * ******************************** *
opportunity to put their seasons back on track.  With the ball pumped up to the correct
PSI the game got underway.  Wythall started - well horrendous.  Straight from kick-off
the ball was given away, & that was the complete story of the 1st half.  When Wythall
did gety hold of the ball, they descided to give the ball straight back to Lightwood,      Division 3
putting themselves straight back under pressure.  The 1st noticable effort came on 12     Sun 6th Mar 2011
minutes, when a Lightwood corner found a great leaping effort from the Lightwood
player, who was unfortuanate to see his header come back off the R/H post.  Wythall     Current LeagueForm
never really got any chances away, & when the ball was hit, it never troubled the     LWWWLL
impressive Lightwoods keeper.  Lightwoods eventually broke the deadlock on 18 mins
when another punt over the top was failed to be dealt with again, & the Lightwoods   No. Starting Team   Goals
no.10 steadied himself before smashing a great shot over Kyle Batchelor in goal from   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
20 yards for 1-0.  Lightwoods then extended their lead to 2, when another failed move    8 Jamie HASKER
by Wythall, was left with Lightwoods counter-attacking & yet another punted over the   3 Scott SAUNDERS
top ball from Lightwood, saw the forward cause the Wythall defence more problems,   6 Jack FOX
before he steadied himself & dispatched the ball past the Wythall keeper for 2-0.   17 Tom DAVIES
HALF TIME: WYTHALL  0,  LIGHTWOODS  2   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
After a very big dressing down at half time to address the crying & whinging of several   7 Kyle MULLALLY
players, a few changes were made, & suddenly Wythall started playing some football.   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
Although the ball still wasn't quite rolling for the lads, at least they were trying to get   9 George STURDY
back to basics & all work hard for each other once more.  Noticably the introduction of   10 Charlie DONLAN ©
new recruit A'mari Robinson, seemed to spur Wythall into life, as instructed, he listened   12 Max SMITH
& continually got the ball down & tried to get other players into the game.  Captain
Charlie Donlan started working much harder for his players, & although things didn't   No. Substitutes   Goals
always go his way, he kept going until the end.  The game became pretty much a stale    14 Lewis DOYLE
mate for the entire 2nd half, with neither keeper really having to make any major saves   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
although both held the ball well when called into action.     5 A'mari ROBINSON
    16 Matthew COLLIER
I'm really disappointed in the result today, not so much the score line, but just the fact
that for some reason the last few weeks have brought several poor performances    Results
all around.  Not many of the Wythall players looked as though they were actually
enjoying playing today, & isn't that why we're all here for primarily??  If you would all    Bournville W  1,  Glades  7
just - 1. Enjoy playing;  2. LISTEN;  3. Work Hard - for each other;  & most importantly    Bromford  8,  Aston Fields  1
at the minute no.4 - STOP BITCHING & WHINING, we could actually still have something   Coleshill  6,  Bournville FC  0
to play for this season, instead of turning up on semi-final day & end up getting    Fairfield  6,  Wychall  0
smashed.
Probably the worst thing that happened for us this season, was beating Kingshurst in
the cup.  Suddenly you have all started thinking you are better than you actually are at
times.  It's time to stand up & be counted from now on, or your season could fast be
over.
Well done to A'mari Robinson today, although you only really played half a game, there
wasn't a player out there today who played any better than what you did for us today.
I'm only sorry you had to play your 1st game with so many poor performances all around
you.  You did everything we asked of you, & deservedly gain Man of the Match.

PS - Thanks to the player who asked the very important question after the match - "Ant
could you be sacked at all?" - Well in answer to that, yes I could, but I don't know of
anyone who would even want to take you all on after the last few performances, so I
suppose…..I'M stuck with you lot!

WYTHALL JUNIORS  3,  Bournville Warriors  5 @ B&SRFC   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Well, after the last two match-ups between these sides & plenty of goals later, today    * Kyle MULLALLY *
was to produce yet another goal fest.  Unfortunately for Wythall though, Bournville   * ******************************** *
came here today, to act out some revenge for the last two defeats at Wythall's hands.
Each time Wythall have played Bournville, they have scored plenty of goals & looked on
paper to have 'mauled' the Warriors.  This though hasn't been the case at all, &
Bournville turned up today to prove the point, & prove it they did.  Wythall addressed     Division 3
this game in the total wrong manner, & were warned before the game, that they      Sun 20th Feb 2011
wouldn't be getting an easy game today again, but all the advise & tactics fell on
deaf ears & they paid the price.  Wythall usually starting the game at a furious pace,      Current LeagueForm
started for a word 'lack-lustre', & although they did play football at times, too many     WLWWWL
players were being carried today.  Bournville on the other hand played very well - again,
& fully deserved the victory.  Bournville went 1-0 up on 9 minutes, when some poor   No. Starting Team   Goals
defending saw the Bournville forward capitialised & punish Wythall easily.  Wythall to   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
their credit actually started to play some football for the next 15 minutes, & went    8 Jamie HASKER
level on 14 minutes through goal machine Charlie Donlan, when his fiercesome effort    14 Lewis DOYLE
rattled the net.  Donlan then put Wythall 2-1 up on 22 minutes, when his free kick    6 Jack FOX
found the back of the net once more from 22 yards.  Bournville though kept going &   16 Matthew COLLIER
then played the better football for the rest of this match up.  They equalised on 26    4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
minutes to make the game level 2-2.   7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
HALF TIME:  WYTHALL 2,  WARRIORS  2   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
The 2nd half saw Wythall totally throw the passing game out of the window & opted for   18 Owen WALSH
the bad old dark days of trying to win the game by themselves attitude. Bournville on    10 Charlie DONLAN   3
the other hand were patient & got the ball down at every opportunity & the set their   12 Max SMITH
quick forward away as quick as possible to cause Wythall problems on every attack.
Bournville went 3-2 up on 36 minutes with a very well taken goal.  Wythall equalised    No. Substitutes   Goals
on 39 minutes when Donlan completed his hatrick.  Bournville then went 4-3 up 2 mins   3 Scott SAUNDERS
later - again very deservedly, before extending the lead on 51 minutes to 5-3.  Wythall   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
then had a 5 minute spell of trying to play football again, but Bournville harrassed
every player down & just generally looked as though they wanted to win this game from
the 1st minute to the last.
    Results
A very bad day at the office today for Wythall.  You were all warned before-hand &
again at half time, when you had somehow got back into the game, but after a great
performance against Kingshurst a couple of weeks ago, a few of you seem to think all
you have to do now is turn up to gain 3 points.  - a rude awakening.  With 3 losses now   Wychall  4, Bournville FC  4
chalked up, the league title is basically going to be out of reach now, & that is a big
blow after the way you have been playing of late.  Yes, you can say you were missing
a couple of players again today, but if you can't win games without two players, then
you definitely aren't as strong as squad as you all thought.
Kyle Mullally gained man of the match this week, for his tiredless efforts in trying to
get something going for Wythall throughout, closely followed by Lewis Doyle in
defence who was a close 2nd.
With the semi-final coming up soon, you should all be thinking about whether you are
playing well enough to be featuring in the starting XI of late.  Only a handful of players
can hold there head up high today.

Well done to Bournville today, I have said before you play much better than your
results suggest, & should be out of the relegation places come May.  Good luck for the
rest of the season.

heavy in the middle of the park, the Wythall management were hoping for a none    * ******************************** *
repeat of the game a couple of weeks ago versus Bournville FC.  The game started
brightly though for Wythall, instantly going on the attack.  It didn't take Wythall long
either to break the deadlock, when former Wychall player Max Smith, scored on his 1st
return to his old club, in the same fashion as the other ex-Wychall players in previous      Division 3
games between these two sides.  Kyle Mullally fed a ball to Smith on just outside the      Sun 13th Feb 2011
Wychall penalty area, where Smith turned fantastically, before deftly chipping the
oncoming keeper from 10 yards for 1-0.  The game started to peeter out then, & both     Current LeagueForm
side went close in the matter of minutes.  Wythall had three attempts thwarted by the      WWLWWW
impressive Wychall keeper, which should have ended the game before it had really got
underway, but by not taking the chances, Wychall found themselves still in a game.   No. Starting Team   Goals
Wychall then went closest when the ball fizzed past the far post after some good    1 Kyle BATCHELOR
footwork.  Wythall then extended the lead to 2 on 20 minutes, when a debatable    16 Matthew COLLIER   1
corner was given.  The ball did appear though to have come off two Wychall players   3 Scott SAUNDERS
before going out for the corner, which the young referee who was absolutely superb    6 Jack FOX
today, over-ruled in favour of Wythall.  The resulting corner saw the ball cleared back   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
to the cornr taker,Captain Charlie Donlan, who's cross-come shot found the far L/H   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
corner for 2-0.   7 Kyle MULLALLY
HALF TIME:  WYCHALL  0,  WYTHALL 2   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
The 2nd half saw Wythall change formation & go up a gear (although only 1!!) &    12 Max SMITH   1
started to dominate the rest of the game in all areas.  The game was very scrappy at   10 Charlie DONLAN © 1
times & not one for the scrap book, but although the condition of the pitch was getting   17 Tom DAVIES
steadily worse, both teams still attempted to play football, only in the wrong area - the
boggy middle!  The introduction of substitute Owen Walsh was an instant impact as   No. Substitutes   Goals
his continuous runs started causing Wychall many problems.  It was Walsh himself who   14 Lewis DOYLE
got himself deservedly on the scoresheet on 47 minutes, when he finished off   18 Owen WALSH   1
brilliantly at the far post for 3-0.  Wychall then pulled a goal back against the run of    8 Jamie HASKER
play on 52 minutes, when a great through ball, saw the Wychall no.7 enter the box
through an array of Wythall poor defending, to see him finish brilliantly into the bottom
L/H corner giving Kyle Batchelor in goal no chance, & wipe his clean sheet record back   Results
to zero.  Wythall though dusted themselves off & started to press once again.
Wythall again increased their lead on 55 minutes, when a goal mouth scramble, saw   Coleshill  3,  Lightwood  2
the ball switched right to the awaiting Matthew Collier, who steadied himself &    Fairfield  6,  Bournville FC  0
fired brilliantly across goal into the L/H corner from 8 yards to finish off the scoring.

After last weeks fantastic victory over Kingshurst, the Wythall management were a
little worried of the state of mind of the players, with the 'Lord Mayor's effect' coming
into play.  Wythall although not settling throughout, & only playing in pretty much 2nd
gear all game, still came away from this match up with the very important 3 points &
a couple of goals to show for it.  Not the best performance by a long shot, but they got
the job done again, & never at any point looked as though they were going to lose this
match.  Sometimes you have to dig deep & grind out performances & today was one of
those times.  I can't understand how Wychall are in the bottom two with a performance
like this.  Maybe it was a derby moment that raised the game for them, but they still
played very well, & have some very good players, & the keeper was outstanding today.
Good luck for the rest of the season, but playing as you did, with grit & determination
should ensure your safety by the end of the season.
I wasn't going to give a Man of the Match today, as everyone was pretty mediocre, but
I believe Owen Walsh deserves it, for coming on & forcing Wythall to play!

Biggest match in our own teams career so far today, never have Wythall Juniors U12's    * Kyle BATCHELOR *

division higher than our own status, were going to be a formidable challenge this week.
The windy conditions were extremely bad at times, & was set up to spoil this game.
Credit to both teams though who played some great football, & kept the ball on the
deck for the majority of the game to counteract the wind.  The game started in a very     League Shield 1/4 Finals
end to end fashion with both teams going straight at it.  After 10 mins though it was     Sun 6th Feb 2011
Wythall who got on the score sheet.  The superb Kyle Batchelor in goal today, punted a
ball into the wind, the ball was failed to be delt with by the Kinghurst defence, the ball     Current LeagueForm
was allowed to bounce, before Max Smith making his first start of the season, got the      WWWLWW
ball under control, steered past a defender, & just as though he was losing control,
guided the ball over the oncoming keeper from 20 yards into the back of the net for    No. Starting Team   Goals
1-0.  This spurned on Kingshurst to attack more frequently, but a truly brilliant    1 Kyle BATCHELOR
defensive display from the Wythall defence team kept Kingshurst out, time & time    3 Scott SAUNDERS
again.     14 Lewis DOYLE
HALF TIME:  KINGSHURST  0,  WYTHALL  1   6 Jack FOX
Wythall playing into the wind the 2nd half had it all to do to keep Kingshurst at bay.   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
The 2nd half though couldn't have gotten off to a better start for them.  Wythall went   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
on the attack once more, & were rewarded a penalty on 34 minutes.  George Sturdy    7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
was put in by Jordan Linton-Maisey, who steered past the oncoming defender, but was   17 Tom DAVIES   1

of the season, scoring to the keepers right.  Wythall continued to match Kingshurst    10 Charlie DONLAN   1
over the whole park & although there wasn't much between the teams, Wythall just    9 George STURDY
looked like they really wanted this game.  When they lost the ball, the next nearest
player won the ball straight back.  Wythall wrapped up the game on 51 minutes, when   No. Substitutes   Goals
super left back Tom Davies added his 5th of the season from this position in almost   16 Matthew COLLIER
as many games when he finished brilliantly at the back post for 3-0.   18 Owen WALSH
    11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
Man of the match today, who just shaded a number of players yet again, went to our    8 Jamie HASKER
beloved crazy keeper Kyle Batchelor, who's talking, positioning, saves & kicking were
2nd to none today, & he managed to extend his unbeaten run to 3 games now, which    Results
has NEVER been done in a Wythall shirt before - FANTASTIC against such a quality
side also!     Bournville FC  0,  Coleshill  2

The lads as a whole today made the management & parents extremely proud, & should
propell them onto greater things now.  The team are showing just how much they have
improved even just over this season, & should go on to prove just how good they are
as the season goes on.  On another note, we were extremely pleased with the
attitudes of the substitutes today, who were understandable not happy with being on
the bench for our biggest ever game, but came on & responded brilliantly with
fantastic performances from each.

    * Man Of The Match *
Late kick off today against a team we've never played before so didn't know    * Jack FOX *
anything about them before this match up.  It was a bit touch & go whether this game   * ******************************** *
would be played due to the hard frost, & the usual pitch was deemed unfit to play on
as the top goal mouth was a little hard. - so, we changed to probably the most heaviest
boggy pitch we've ever played on in the 5 years we've been playing.  To be fair to both
teams they still tried to play the game the way it should be played by knocking the      Division 3
ball around, but the pitch was making it extremely difficult at times to do so.  The      Sun 30th Jan 2011
players at times looked as though they were running with a sack of coal on their backs!
Well it took a while for this game to get going, with the ball not moving in the middle     Current League Form
of the pitch at all.  Both teams should have really took advantage of the wide areas     WWWLWW
that weren't looking too bad, but decided otherwise.  Wythall got off the mark after 14
minutes, when a goal mouth scramble was failed to be cleared & Captain Charlie   No. Starting Team   Goals
Donlan was on hand to finish at close rang for 1-0.  2-0 came on 25 minutes, when the   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
once again impressive Tom Davies, blasted home from 7 yards when a corner was   14 Lewis DOYLE
failed to be cleared, for his 3rd goal in 4 games from defence.  Apart from some good   3 Scott SAUNDERS
runs from Davies & Lewis Doyle on the opposite flanks, the game was again, pretty    6 Jack FOX
much kept in the middle of the park, where this proved to be a tiresome effort.   17 Tom DAVIES   1
HALF TIME:  BOURNVILLE  0,  WYTHALL 2   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY   1
The 2nd half saw Wythall predominantly parked in the Bournville half, putting the    7 Kyle MULLALLY   1
pressure on but not coming out of the moves with anything.  Wythall changed    11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
formation also to counter-act the bog in the middle of the park, but they players didn't    18 Owen WALSH
seem to respond, instead continued to play down the middle.  Bournville on the    10 Charlie DONLAN © 1
other hand, started spreading the ball wide, & it proved useful in getting the ball out    9 George STURDY
of their half to counter-attack.  Bournville though were met with a pretty formidable
Wythall defence though, who mopped up time after time lead by the ever impressive    No. Substitutes   Goals
Jack Fox at the heart.  Jack Fox had two impressive halves, proving how valueable he   16 Matthew COLLIER
has become over the last year again with his brillaintly timed tackles & calm build up   12 Max SMITH
play.  Wythall added their 3rd of the game on 48 minutes, when Kyle Mullally & new    2 Austin WALKER - MANI
recruit Max Smith teamed up well out wide right, disposessed the Bournville left back,
before Smith put Mullally through superbly.  Mullally turned once then twice back onto
his left foot before hitting his shot under the advancing Bournville keeper for 3-0.   Results
Mullally was in on the act once more on 54 minutes, when he twisted & turned in the
Bournville area, before being brought down.  The advantage was quickly back to
Bournville, so the ref brought the ball back for a penalty.  With the usual penalty   BournvilleW  5,  Wychall  3
taker off the pitch, begging to be put back on just to take it, it was left to Jordan    Bromford  5,  Lightwood  3
Linton-Maisey, who seemed to be the only one willing to step up & take the
responability!!  His calm penalty saw him hit the ball top L/H corner for a great finish.

A great 3 points today for the lads, in the worst possible conditions to play in.  The
lads 'manned up' today & got the job finished & still managed to put 4 goals in on the
way.  A solid performance with 2 clean sheets in a row again to top it off.

Next week sees Wythall face probably their toughest fixture this season, as they take

out in a friendly, Rangers came from a goal behind to win 2-1, in a tough game against   * ******************************** *
a team a division higher.  This time Wythall looked determined from the 1st whistle
to the end, in a game they never looked like losing.  Wythall attacked from the off, in
what started out with heavy pressure on Rangers.  After the 1st 5-10 minutes though
the game started to become an end to end affair.  Both teams produced some great      League Shield Round 3
probing football, but neither keeper was really called into action, apart from simply     Sun 23rd Jan 2011
catching the ball.  Then Wythall went up a gear & started pressing once more.  They
were rewarded on 16 minutes, when Tom Davies threaded a great through ball to the     Current Form
powerful Charlie Donlan.  Donlan ran 60 yards into the Rangers penalty area & crossed     LWWWLW
to the awaiting George Sturdy who slotted the ball under the oncoming keeper from
7 yards for 1-0.  Wythall then started dominating large areas of the pitch winning the   No. Starting Team   Goals
physical battles.  Wythall pressed more & got their reward again on 27 minutes.     1 Kyle BATCHELOR
Another dangerous Jordan Linton-Maisey throw, saw Donlan head on, Sturdy control    14 Lewis DOYLE
with his left foot, switch it to his right & fire a thunderous volley into the far L/H    3 Scott SAUNDERS
corner for his & the games 2nd goal for 2-0.   6 Jack FOX
HALF TIME:  WYTHALL  2,  RANGERS  0   17 Tom DAVIES
The 2nd half saw Wythall pretty much dominate to the finish.  Bar a few dangerous    4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
counter-attacks from Rangers, Wythall penned Rangers back for large periods.  When    7 Kyle MULLALLY ©
Rangers did attack they were met by a formidable defence, who controlled the ball    11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
brilliantly, before setting up further attacks.   The Donlan/Sturdy partnership was put   16 Matthew COLLIER
to good use again on 48 minutes, when Donlan set Sturdy off once more, & his great   10 Charlie DONLAN
run into the Rangers penalty area saw him dispatch a truly fantastic effort across goal   9 George STURDY   3
from right to left from 15 yards, hitting the far post & nestling in the back of the net
for his 5th hatrick of the season & top off a fantastic performance!   No. Substitutes   Goals
Linton-Maisey then produced a great effort on 52 minutes, when a Sturdy corner found   18 Owen WALSH
the head of Linton-Maisey who's effort found the crossbar & goaline, but not the credit   12 Max SMITH
it deserved.

A brilliant performance from EVERYONE today, some truly outstanding performances
alround.   Results
Star man today who JUST outshone the incredible George Sturdy performance was
Tom Davies, who when asked to play yet another position today, after a great    Bournville  FC  4,  Bournville  W  2
performance in centre midfield last week, changed to left back, & played the game   Lightwood  8,  Aston  1
of his life - again!  Davies is fast becoming a most crucial player for Wythall of late   Wychall  0,  Fairfield  8
putting in some brilliant performances virtually every week.  Another great display
today came from Captain Kyle Mullally, who instead of taking the ball that extra touch,
laid off the ball at crucial moments & continued to bring other players into the game
also, which proved very dangerous for the whole game.  I could go through the entire
team, from Kyle Batchelor in goal with yet another solid clean sheet, the entire
defence who didn't just hoof the ball away, but continued to build attacks from the
back.  The midfield who worked incredibly hard not just themselves but for each other,
& the forwards who are proving to find the net every week without fail.

Excellent scalp for you guys today, you should be as proud of yourselves as the
management are of you!! - PLEASE keep it up!

Bournville Warriors  2,  WYTHALL JUNIORS   11 (ELEVEN) @ Metchley Lane   * ******************************** *
    * Man Of The Match *
Another trip over to Metchley Lane again this week, having played Warriors in the Cup    * WHOLE TEAM *
already this season, producing a cracking 11 goal thriller.  Today was again filled with    * ******************************** *
goals & outstanding football!  Wythall started with a changed lineup, trying players in
different positions again, being influenced by the performances in last weeks friendly.
Wythall went on the attack from the off, but weren't really stringing any passes
together to cut through Warriors, only using solo runs.  After the 1st 7 minutes, of       Division 3
pretty much relentless Wythall pressure, Wythall finally broke the deadlock, when a      Sun 16th Jan 2011
cleared corner found Kyle Mullally on the edge of the 18 yard box.  He hit a 1st time
high shot back at goal, the keeper got hands to it, but it somehow crossed the line.     Current Form
Jordan Linton-Maisey then started using bullet throws, which started causing all sorts     LWWWLW
of problems for Warriors.  The 2nd goal came on 10 minutes, when George Sturdy got
his 1st of the day smashing the ball past the Warriors keeper from 15 yards for 2-0.   No. Starting Team   Goals
There was a gap of around 7 minutes before another goal came, as the ball was being   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
played end to end.  Wythall though, against the run of play, then broke away & made it   8 Jamie HASKER
3-0 on 18 minutes when Sturdy added his 2nd of the game with another well hit shot    14 Lewis DOYLE
from 14 yards.  Sturdy then got his hatrick on 21 minutes when he was sent clean    6 Jack FOX
through & 'stabbed' the ball past the oncoming Warriors keeper from 16 yards for 4-0,    3 Scott SAUNDERS
& his 5th hatrick of the season!  Then came a Wythall blitz, when they scored 4 goals    4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY   1
in the space of 5 minutes, killing the game off.  The impressive Tom Davies added a   7 Kyle MULLALLY   2
5th goal, Captain Charlie Donlan got his 1st two goals of the game, smashing both   17 Tom DAVIES   1
past the dispairing keeper, & Mullally added his 2nd of the game for 8-0.   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
Callum Bridgewater also came agonisingly close, when a Linton-Maisey long throw was   10 Charlie DONLAN © 4
headed brilliantly goalwards but the Warriors keeper made a fantastic save to deny him   9 George STURDY   3
HALF TIME:  WARRIORS  0,   WYTHALL  8
The 2nd half saw a string of changes for Wythall, but they continued to dominate for   No. Substitutes   Goals
large periods of the game dispite playing into a strong wind.  Wythall went 9-0 up on   16 Matthew COLLIER
33 minutes, when Donlan got his 6th hatrick of the season, before then adding his 4th   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
goal for his 4th double brace this season!!  At 10-0, Warriors to their credit kept going   18 Owen WALSH
as they did last time out, & got a well worked goal back on 49 minutes which they
thoroughly deserved.  Wythall added their 11th goal on 51 minutes when Linton-Maisey
scored from 22 yards, when he 'lofted' his shot over everyone into the top L/H corner    Results
to complete their scoring.  Warriors then gained a second goal back to complete the
scoreline of 11-2, when a mix up in communication between the equally impressive    Aston  2,  Wychall  3
Kyle Batchelor in goal & Jack Fox, saw a failed clearance hit back across goal by the    Bournville FC  1,  Lightwood  8
very impressive Warriors no.5, who found the bottom R/H corner.   Coleshill  2,  Glades  1
    Hamstead  1,  Bromford  4
A brilliant display of football today, not just from Wythall, but also Warriors.  An 11-2
scorline would indicate Warriors just lay down & let Wythall win the game, but this
doesn't do the game any justice at all.  This was probably close to Wythall's finest
perfomance of the season, & they simply torn Warriors apart in the 1st half with
fanstastic football.  Warriors to their credit played with passion & pride to the final
whistle, & don't really deserve to be on the end of that scorline either.  A few quite
brilliant performances all over today, making it IMPOSSIBLE to pick a man of the match
today.  Special mentions to Donlan & Sturdy who keep scoring the goals, now an
incredible 50 goals between them so far with only half a season gone!  The rest of the
team were magnificent also, added their 2 pence to the final outcome of a great 3
points.  Well done lads.
Best of luck Warriors for the rest of the season, with that determination, effort &
passion you don't deserve to be where you currently stand.  Look forward to meeting
up again later on in the season.

invite for a short notice much needed friendly!  Once up the ground, it was looking a
bit dodgy whether the pitch would be playable with the overnight frost, but with the
game kicking off half an hour later, the lads could finally get a game underway.  The
game couldn't have started any better for Wythall, as they instantly went on the attack     Friendly
& put Studley under heavy pressure for much of the 1st half.  The 1st goal came on 9      Sun 9th Jan 2011
minutes, when a Charlie Donlan cross was smashed at goal by Captain Kyle Mullally,
but was met by an incredible save by the Studley keeper.  The ball though fell nicely to     Current Form
the deadly George Sturdy who calmly volleyed home from 6 yards out for his 1st of the     WLWWWL
game.  Bar a few break-a-way counter attacks, that Studley produced, letting their

making Wythall keeper Kyle Batchleor work, the ball was very much in the Studley half.   1 Kyle BATCHELOR
Strike partners Sturdy & Donlan were terrorizing the Studley defence, with great    14 Lewis DOYLE
supporting play from a very good midfield today, but were constantly looking for the    3 Scott SAUNDERS

time after a Studley attack broke down & Jordan Linton-Maisey, having the game of     2 Austin WALKER - MANI
his season threaded a great ball though to Sturdy, who went into the 18 yard box &    4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
shot from 16 yards into the bottom R/H corner for his 2nd of the game.   7 Kyle MULLALLY ©

The 2nd half saw a few changes, & noticably the introduction of Callum Bridgewater   16 Matthew COLLIER
having his first game up top for Wythall.  Another substitute Jamie Hasker, slotting in    10 Charlie DONLAN
at right back for the injured Lewis Doyle, lofted a forward pass into the path of the    9 George STURDY   3
speedy Bridgewater, who out paced the Studley defender, then out-strengthed another
got into the Studley area & unleashed a brilliant effort into the far L/H corner for 3-0   No. Substitutes   Goals
from 16 yards.  Sturdy then got his much deserved hatrick on 49 minutes, when he   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER   1
got on the end of a Davies through ball, & shot low & hard at the keepers near post    8 Jamie HASKER
for 4-0.  Davies then turned goal scorer, for two in two games from midfield, when    18 Owen WALSH
he finished from 3 yards out from after showing some great feet, sending two
defenders the wrong way, before turning back & finishing for 5-0.
    Results
There were a number of great perfomances today from the Wythall players, making a
starting line-up for our next league game an interesting challenge for the managers!   Lightwood  6,  Bournville  W  2
Callum Bridgewater made life interesting up front when he came on, & the midfield
centre 3 were absolutley magnificent even without Bridgewater bolstering them
together.  There were a number of man of the match worthy performances today put
in, but George Sturdy just out shone Linton-Maisey & Davies for todays star man.
It was nice to see a number of players now able to play comfortably in different
positions, strengthening the squad immensily for the future.  With an array of very
good players trial-ing, at the minute the future looks bright for Wythall Juniors U12's.

Thank you VERY much to Studley Juniors for obliging to put in the effort to get a team

when Wythall were with 10 players with 10 minutes to kick off.  The warm up for the
lads was going well, they looked up for it today, but without the WHOLE team there     Division 3
it's a bit of a waste of a build up.  Two key players were then unhappy at being on      Sun 21st Nov 2010
the bench through no fault of their own, but this also gave the players who had
escaped the bench because of this, a second chance to prove the managers wrong.     Current Form
To be fair to the lads, they all responded brilliantly.  They played some excellent     WLWWWL
football, after some terrible stuff last week.  Wythall were reward the games 1st
goal on 8 minutes, when George Sturdy received the ball 15 yards out, sidestepped a   No. Starting Team   Goals
couple of defenders, before smashing his effort into the far L/H corner for 1-0.     1 Jack LAWSON
Looking on top of world, Wythall were playing well.  Then it all started to go horribly   17 Tom DAVIES   1
wrong.  Fairfield started playing some fantastic ffotball at times, & were starting to    3 Scott SAUNDERS
open Wythall up.  They were rewarded with their 1st goal on 14 minutes, when a    6 Jack FOX
corner was horribly defended, but all credit to the Fairfield player, who smashed his   2 Austin WALKER - MANI
shot past debutant keeper Jack Lawson in goal, giving him no chance.  The 2nd goal   4 Jordan LINTON - MAISEY
came 5 minutes later, when yet some more poor defnding, saw Fairfield take full   8 Jamie HASKER
advantage to finish brilliantly again for 2-1.  Wythall though dusted themselves off &   11 Callum BRIDGEWATER
again started to play some good stuff.  Jamie Hasker pulled the ball out of the air,    16 Matthew COLLIER
laid off to Captain Charlie Donlan, who threaded a fantastic through ball to the inform   10 Charlie DONLAN ©
Sturdy.  He shrugged off the challenges, entered the 18 yard box, went around the    9 George STURDY   1
keeper, had the whole goal begging, & was fouled 5 yards out for a stone wall penalty.
To the amazment of the entire ground, the ref awarded the corner.  Sturdy had to    No. Substitutes   Goals
leave the field which dealt a HUGE blow to Wythall for the rest of the game.  5 mins   7 Kyle MULLALLY
later, Donlan received the ball wide, entered the area, looked to have been fouled   14 Lewis DOYLE
although, the Fairfield player looked to have made a fantastic challenge.  The referee
blew up, but stated it was outside the box??!!??
HALF TIME:  FAIRFIELD  2,  WYTHALL 1
The 2nd half saw some absolutely fantastic football at times from both teams.     Results
Wythall camped in Fairfield half for much of the 2nd half, although when Fairfield did
attack, they were very dangerous, & used the counter-attack very effectively.     Aston Fields  0,  Coleshill  10
Jack Fox at centre half, was playing some tremendous football, getting the ball down   Bournville W  3,  Bournville FC  6
& forcing Wythall to play football at every opportunity.  Tom Davies, moved into
